Dry eyes are a common condition in Canada, affecting approximately 25% of the population. Common symptoms are eyes that are irritated, watery or feel gritty (like sand in the eyes). If you have been recently diagnosed with dry eyes, one of the first steps to properly manage it is daily use of lubricating eye drops.

There are constant advances in the management of dry eyes so it’s important to keep up to date on the latest treatments . Recently launched in Canada, Evolve™ Daily Intensive and Evolve™ Intensive Gel is a promising new addition to your dry eye routine.

It is distributed by a Canadian company, Aequus Pharmaceuticals which takes pride in working with products that are professional and clinician exclusive. The Evolve™ brand family contains preservative-free formulations to address the first step of dry eye management. Let’s go over the details of these eye drops and see if they are the right fit for you.

How does Evolve™ Daily Intensive Work?

Evolve™ Daily Intensive drops are designed for patients who have mild to moderate dry eyes. It is preservative-free, phosphate-free and contains 0.2% hyaluronate. Hyaluronate has a unique property that protects the surface of the eye with each blink and it attracts and holds much-needed hydration. It’s moisture locking technology helps increase its contact time on the eye’s surface for longer soothing relief. Additionally, it can be used daily and it can be used with contact lenses.

How does Evolve™ Intensive Gel Work?

Evolve™ Intensive Gel drops are designed for patients with moderate to severe dry eyes. They are the only preservative-free, phosphate-free and buffer-free formulation in the eyedrop market. They are compatible with both soft and hard contact lenses. Evolve™ Intensive Gel drops contain 3 specialized ingredients that make it extremely effective to reduce dry eye symptoms.

Unique Triple-Action Formulation in Evolve™ Intensive Gel

Evolve™ Intensive Gel drops relieves dry eye symptoms by containing a unique blend of 3 ingredients – hyaluronate, caromber 980 and glycerol. Hyaluronate has been used extensively in the eye care industry because of its strong ability to stabilize and retain water. Next, carbomer 980 acts as a water-holding net that extends the drop’s ability to stay on the eye surface much longer than the average eye drop. Lastly, glycerol helps maintain a healthy tear balance while attracting moisture and preventing evaporation.

Who can Use Evolve™ Drops and Gel Drops?

Both Evolve™ eye drops were created for patients with aqueous deficient dry eye (less water in the tears), evaporative dry eye (less oil in the tears) or mixed dry eye (less water and oil in the tears). Evolve™ Daily Intensive is intended for everyday use for the patient with mild to moderate dry eyes.

Evolve™ Intensive Gel can be used for any dry eye sufferer, but it is mainly intended for daily use in those with moderate to severe dry eyes. Because of their preservative free formulation, both drops can be safely used more than twice a day if needed.

A Bottle for Optimal Delivery to the Eyes

Evolve™ bottles is designed with a soft, easy-squeeze sides to help patients deliver the drop with ease. This innovative bottle system provides easy installation with a blue aiming dot at the tip for precise aiming at every drop.

Evolve™ eye drops are micro-sized to help reduce spillover, and provide more than 350 preservative-free drops per bottle which is significantly more than other brands.
